At Kitchens for Good we are dedicated to helping people access careers and the fresh start they deserve. Through our apprenticeship program, our apprentices gain the knife skills and life skills they need to launch a meaningful career in the culinary and hospitality industry, so they can move forward in life and make a positive impact on our communities. Apprentices — who are overcoming the impacts of incarceration, homelessness, and fostercare — hone their skills while making nutritious meals for food-insecure San Diegans.

Fighting Food Waste
We rescue cosmetically imperfect and surplus produce from wholesalers and farmers.
Since 2015, we’ve saved more than 150 tons of perfectly edible food from hitting the landfill.
Feeding the Hungry
Our apprentices are able to give back to the community by preparing nutritious meals for food-insecure families and seniors.
So far, our apprentices have made over 600,000 meals for food-insecure San Diegans.
Kitchens for Good works to create sustainable businesses that provide on-the-job training for apprentices, and generates revenue to reinvest in programs.

Unemployment rates among individuals transitioning from homelessness, incarceration, and foster-care are a staggering 20%-50%, and half of the inmates released from prison are incarcerated again within three years.
