Food Systems Manager
Lindsey has participated in innovative solutions to hunger for nearly a decade. As a Virginia native, her earliest memories of encountering unsheltered men and women on the sidewalks of the Nation’s capital sparked her lifelong interest in food justice. Since age 12, she volunteered in soup kitchens, eventually following an unconventional path to combine her studies in Social Work and passion for cooking. She began in food banking at Manna Food Center as Program Manger of Nutrition Education, where she taught cooking classes and led over 400 grocery stores to teach pantry participants about healthy shopping on a budget. At Manna, she also facilitated the retrofitting of a 72-passenger schoolbus turned licensed commercial kitchen and pop-up food pantry.
Lindsey uprooted to San Diego upon accepting the role of Distribution Network Engagement Manager of Feeding San Diego. There, she managed the County’s Retail Rescue Program and Starbucks Foodshare Program that redirected 13 million pounds of rescued food to San Diegans in 2018. Her work around food insecurity and nutrition has been featured by The Kitchn, Share Our Strength, Green Door Gourmet, and Voice of America. Lindsey is an active member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, as well as a Licensed Episcopal Preacher.
